I have been creating gourd art for some twenty years, inspired by a trip to Peru and observing the traditional native craft of decorating hard shell gourds. All the lines on my artworks are burnt into the gourd’s surface. The designs are colored with acrylic paints and sealed with polyurethane. Then, they are finally embellished with leather lacings as well as a variety of glass and ceramic beads. No two pieces are identical. Designs are widely varied and include Southwestern, Mexican, Chinese, Celtic and others. Each is signed on the bottom with my name and a genuine buffalo nickel. My work is widely collected and has been shown in galleries.
