I paint in acrylics on canvas and board placing a particular emphasis on color and movement. I have always been inspired by the beauty that can be generated amidst pain and tension and the effects of the calming beauty of nature. My paintings evoke the melancholy sweetness of the blues and the sharp joy of jazz, paying homage to the particular skill Americans have for finding joy. My images are created with a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the families and communities built, the land farmed, the music played.
